Plot Outline: John McClane takes on an Internet-based terrorist organization who is systematically shutting down the United States. Plot: When someone hacks into the computers at the FBIs Cyber Crime Division; the Director decides to round up all the hackers who could have done this. When hes told that because its the 4th of July most of their agents are not around so they might have trouble getting people to get the hackers. So he instructs them to get local PDS to take care of it. And one of the cops they ask is John McClane who is tasked with bringing a hacker named Farrell to the FBI. But as soon as he gets there someone starts shooting at them. McClane manages to get them out but theyre still being pursued. And its just when McClane arrives in Washington that the whole system breaks down and chaos ensues.
Crazy Credits: We know about 1 Crazy Credits. One of them reads: After the 20th Century Fox opening logo has been on for a while, it suddenly “short circuits”, causing flickering as the the searchlights fade, climaxing in a total power outage.
Goofs: We know about 85 goofs. Here comes one of them: Factual errors: The “police radio” in McClanes NYPD car (and a few other official vehicles in the film) was actually a ham radio. It was an ADI model AR-147 FM transceiver. It was tuned to 144.330 MHz which is an amateur radio frequency in the two meter band. Except for extraordinary emergencies, that band is not used for law enforcement communication.
Trivia: There are 39 entries in the trivia list - like these:
- While in early development with a script that was eventually discarded, the movie had been given the subtitle “Tears of the Sun”. Bruce Willis told the studio he would commit to a Die Hard 4 if he could use the title for Tears of the Sun (2003).
- The French title translates as “Die Hard 4.0: Return to Hell”.
- Prints were sent out to UK cinemas under the fake name “New Hampshire” - a reference to the states “Live Free or Die” motto and the movies original title - in spite of the title being changed to “Die Hard 4.0″ in European territories.
